Our Mission
The mission of the American Council of Animal Naturopathy (ACAN) is to shape leaders in animal naturopathy and raise the profile of the Animal Naturopath and Natural Animal Health Practitioner through coursework, testing, certification and continuing education of the highest standards and ethics. In so doing our goal is to enhance the public's trust in the quality of natural/holistic animal health care. The creation of the American Council of Animal Naturopathy provides a clearinghouse and registry for practitioners and consultants while it establishes a creditable database of qualified natural animal health practitioners.
Certifying or credentialing forms a basis in which natural animal health practitioners, business professionals and the public can gain the self-assurance needed in today’s competitive market. Animal owners, consumers and businesses will make decisions based on creditable references from one reliable source as the American Council Of Animal Naturopathy. It is believed this service will undoubtedly improve natural/alternative animal heath care delivery, improve public confidence, and create increased opportunities for greater insurance reimbursement for services rendered and practice legislation in states which remain resistant to alternative health care licensure.
ACAN endeavors to provide certification credentials through coursework,examinations and continuing education to reflect and uphold the highest professional standards of practice for animal naturopathy. To that end, we provide and aid in maintaining a high standard of ethics and competence among animal naturopaths and natural animal health practitioners.
ACAN believes that in order to be an effective leader, one must share their knowledge and create more leaders rather than harboring it and only creating more followers.
NOTE: ACAN certified animal naturopaths and practitioners certified in animal naturopathy do not provide medical diagnosis, prescribe medications or perform surgical procedures. ACAN expects Certified Animal Naturopaths and Natural Animal Health Care Practitioners certified in animal naturopathy to only provide the professional services set out in the Scope of Practice and strictly adhere to the Code of Ethics identified on this website. ACAN cannot be held responsible for anyone not acting within the Scope of Practice or not adhering to the Code of Ethics herein.
